Ruth Roman was born on June 22nd, 1939, in Lynn Massachusetts. The actress is the youngest child of Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. Her father, who was a carnival barker, died when she was a small child, forcing her mother to provide for the family by working as waitress or cleaning lady. Ruth was raised in a poor neighborhood of Boston Massachusetts where she enrolled in high school. She left the institution she was in within two years of her education to pursue the profession of acting. Her path to success turned out be fraught with difficulties such as In New York, she obtained a job posing for stills in a magazine for crime However, the stage was not a match for her. While in New York, she was employed at a bar, as an entry-point girl, before quitting after a few months and moving to Boston. She made the ends meet by working as an usherette during the day while at night performing with the New England Repertory Company, her first steady acting job. Also, she studied drama. She ultimately graduated from Bishop-Lee Theatre School.
